Confetti Hearts and the Fated Love Connection June 24, 2009

Peter and Vanessa were as far apart physically as not to have ever met. She was from Australia and he was in the Navy at sea for months at a time.

Theirs was a chance meeting, perhaps they were fated to meet. Peter had just docked at Pearl Harbor after a three month trip and with his friends went to rent a car. Vanessa and her friends were at the end of their vacation in Hawaii and were returning their rental car and that is where they met.

It was not the instant sparks flying between them but the two groups had a nice conversation and it was agreed that they should meet for drinks that evening.

As it turned out Peter and his friends had dinner and unwinding from their long voyage went to sleep early forgetting about their date with the girls.

The next day Peter had gone to Sears in Ala Moana and ran into Vanessa. What are the chances for such an encounter? Can you imagine form Australia and in Sears on your last day in Hawaii? Anyway she mentioned to Peter that they had been waiting at the restaurant for them the night before and were disappointed when they did not show. Peter apologized and int the ensuing conversation found that they had a lot in common. They had lunch and spent the afternoon together getting all more comfortable with each other. When it was time to leave they agreed to keep in touch with each other.

This was a time just before email so communication was done by mail and phone.Peter could not forget Vanessa and decided it did not hurt to try a long distance relationship. He had sent her a long letter and had filled it with tiny confetti hearts.

Vanessa had also felt their relationship growing and upon receiving his letter excitedly tore it open. It had been a still day but as soon as she open the letter a gust of wind took all the little hearts and blew them all over the room. Vanessa was happy to hear from him and smiled as she watched the hearts float to the carpet. After reading his letter for the fourth time she proceed to pick up the hearts saving each one.

As well as she was able to clean up the confetti hearts she would still find a wayward heart from time to time reminding her of Peter and prompting her to write a letter. The letters between them increase, ensued by lengthy, expensive phone calls.

They decided that a long distance relationship was not working and got married a year after first meeting.
