Fifty-one brides were left without wedding gowns, when a Colorado bridal shop suddenly closed its doors. The Fort Collins Police Department received complaints from brides saying that they had purchased gowns from Mountain Avenue Bridal and now were unable to pick them up.
Apparently, owner, Patty Burling, never ordered their gowns. When employees of the store tried to help fit these distressed brides with gowns, they found only the 50 samples that were in the store to work with. Only one bride took a sample gown. Two others took accessories.
Sad news from these brides are popping up all over the internet. One bride said that she paid $800 for her gown. Another bride related how shocked she was to find that she had no gown when her wedding was only two weeks away.
The police are investigating Burling who also left Wyoming teens without prom dresses earlier this year. It is still unclear as to the charges that will be filed against her.
